Raising Places, inspired by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Culture of Health, engages diverse partners to catalyze local momentum in building healthier communities where all children and their families can thrive.
Facilitated by Greater Good Studio, Raising Places uses a labs-based approach to help communities go beyond business as usual—moving beyond diagnosing problems to developing actionable solutions to pressing local challenges.
When we design communities for children, we design for everyone.
We believe that all children deserve to grow up in places that support a lifetime of health and well-being. Yet many of the nation’s children live in communities where they and their families face significant obstacles—unsafe housing, lack of green space, poor air and water quality, inadequate transportation, limited job opportunities and violence. These community conditions can undermine families’ abilities to create stable, enriching environments for their children.
We also believe that creating meaningful change takes unprecedented collaboration and innovation. That’s where Raising Places comes in. This new project creates lab environments for local leaders to bring their diverse perspectives together and build on existing assets in their community to create supportive environments for children.
